Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 19, 2026

Your privacy matters to me. This policy explains, in plain language, what information I collect, why I collect it and how I keep it safe, including how I handle your data when using AI tools.

Privacy PolicyTerms of Service

1. Who I am

This website is run by Jason Harlton, trading as Jason Harlton Marketing & Consulting (“I”, “me”, “my”). I’m responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach me at jason@jasonharlton.com.

2. What this policy covers

This policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit jasonharlton.com, contact me, book a call or work with me, and how I use and protect it. It applies to visitors and clients in North America, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and elsewhere.

3. Information I collect

  • Information you give me. Your name, email address, company, role and anything you include when you email me, message me on LinkedIn or Instagram, or book a call.
  • Booking information. When you book a call through Calendly, I receive the details you enter there, such as your name, email, the time you choose and your answers to booking questions.
  • Client information. If we work together, I may receive access to your ad accounts, analytics, CRM, website and business documents, which can contain personal information about your customers or staff.
  • Technical information. Like most websites, my hosting provider automatically records basic technical data such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the time of your visit. This is used for security and to keep the site running.

4. Cookies and analytics

I use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to understand how people find and use this site. It shows me things like which pages are visited, how long people stay, which free tools are used and whether someone clicks to book a call, email me or copy a template. I use this only to improve the site and my content.

  • What it collects. Pages viewed, clicks on key links and buttons, approximate location (city or region), device and browser type, and how you arrived, such as from a search engine or LinkedIn. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses.
  • Cookies it sets. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies whose names start with _ga to tell visits apart. They last up to two years unless you clear them or decline.
  • What it doesn’t do. I don’t send Google your name, email or anything you type into the free tools, and I don’t use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing or ad personalisation. Advertising cookies are always off.
  • How long data is kept. Analytics data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically.

Your choice. When you first visit, a banner asks whether I can use analytics cookies. If you’re in the UK, the European Economic Area, Switzerland or Quebec, analytics cookies stay off unless you click Accept. Elsewhere, analytics is on by default and you can switch it off at any time. You can change your mind whenever you like by clicking Cookie settings at the bottom of any page. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, I treat it as a decline.

When analytics cookies are off, the site uses Google’s Consent Mode. This means Google may receive limited, cookieless signals, such as that a page was viewed, without any cookies being set on your device and without identifying you. Google uses these to estimate overall visitor numbers.

Where the UK or EU GDPR applies, I rely on your consent for analytics cookies. Elsewhere, I rely on my legitimate interest in understanding and improving my website. You can read how Google uses this data in Google’s explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services.

Other things stored on your device. Your cookie choice is saved in your browser’s local storage so the banner doesn’t keep appearing. Some free tools, such as the ad copy checker, UTM builder and Meta Ads checklist, also save your drafts or progress in local storage so you can come back to them. That information stays on your device, is never sent to me, and you can clear it at any time. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers and shares your IP address with Google.

5. How I use your information

  • To reply to your questions and arrange calls.
  • To scope, deliver, invoice for and manage our work together.
  • To keep the website secure and working properly.
  • To understand how the website is used and improve it, using analytics where you’ve allowed it.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
  • To send occasional follow-ups related to your enquiry or our work. I don’t add anyone to a marketing list without their permission, and you can opt out at any time.

Where privacy laws such as the UK and EU GDPR apply, I rely on these legal bases: taking steps at your request before entering a contract, performing a contract with you, my legitimate interest in running and protecting my business, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where it’s required.

6. AI tools and your data

I use AI tools to work faster, but your confidential information is treated with care:

  • I never put customer data, financials or other confidential client information into public or free AI tools.
  • I only use business-grade AI tools whose terms state they don’t train on your inputs, and only for tasks you’ve approved.
  • Where possible, I anonymise information before it’s used with AI and remove names, emails and other personal details.
  • I follow your company’s AI and data policies when you share them with me.

Third-party AI tools are run by their providers under their own terms and privacy policies. I choose and set them up with care, but no tool or system can promise to be completely secure.

7. Who I share information with

I don’t sell or rent your personal information. I share it only when needed with trusted service providers who help me run my business, such as website hosting (Cloudflare), website analytics (Google Analytics), scheduling (Calendly), email and file storage, accounting, and the business-grade AI tools described above. These providers may only use your information to provide their services. I may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect my rights or the safety of others.

8. International transfers

I work with clients in several countries, and my service providers may store data in other countries, including the United States. Where the law requires it, I rely on recognised safeguards for these transfers, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or equivalent protections offered by my providers.

9. How long I keep it

I keep enquiry and booking information for as long as needed to respond and follow up, usually no more than two years if we don’t work together. Client project files and data are returned or deleted at the end of our work, or sooner when you ask. Invoices and records I’m legally required to keep are kept for the period the law requires.

10. How I protect it

I use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including secure, access-controlled accounts, two-factor authentication where available, and limiting access to what each project needs. I’m happy to sign a non-disclosure or data processing agreement before we start.

11. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of your personal information, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how it’s used, or receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw any consent you’ve given. To make a request, email jason@jasonharlton.com. I’ll respond within the time the law requires and won’t treat you differently for using these rights.

If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner’s Office in the UK, your national authority in the EU, or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

12. Children

This website and my services are meant for businesses. They aren’t aimed at children, and I don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

13. Other websites

This site links to other websites and services, such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Calendly and Google Sheets. Their own privacy policies apply when you use them.

14. Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, I’ll make that clear on this page.

15. Contact
